Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd line-up £53m Pogba replacement; Bayern to keep veteran star

Manchester United have reportedly already lined-up a replacement for Paul Pogba, while PSG have jumped to the front of the queue for a United and Tottenham attacking target, according to Friday’s European papers.

UNITED BEGIN TALKS WITH POGBA REPLACEMENT

Manchester United have already lined-up a summer replacement for Paul Pogba, according to reports on Friday.

Pogba’s long-term future at Old Trafford has been thrown into doubt after he was said to have fallen out with United chief Jose Mourinho.

The France midfielder has struggled for form in recent weeks and that has led to speculation that United may look to cash in on the 24-year-old this summer. Indeed his former club Juventus have been linked with a move for the player after his buy-back fee was revealed.

Reports now claim that United are looking to replace Pogba with a player who has been linked with the club before in Nice star Jean-Michel Seri.

The Ivory Coast star, who came close to joining Barcelona last season until they pulled out of a deal to sign Paulinho instead, is regarded as one of the best all-round midfielders in Ligue 1 and has one goal and six assists in all competitions this season.

The report goes on to state that United have already opened talks with the 26-year-old, adding further fuel to speculation that Pogba could well be on the way come the summer.

PSG LEAD CHASE FOR MAN UTD, SPURS TARGET

PSG are reportedly preparing a mega bid for Real Madrid strike target Mauro Icardi.

The Inter Milan star’s future in Serie A is in serious doubt after talks over a new contract between the player’s agent and wife, Wanda Nara, failed to resolve pay issues with the club.

That alerted Real Madrid as they look for a new frontman to replace Karim Benzema, who looks likely to be one of a number of top Bernabeu stars to move on this summer in a major squad revamp.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is also said to have shown an interest in the Argentina star, while Tottenham were reported to have lined-up Icardi as a potential replacement for top Real target Harry Kane.

However, it would appear that PSG have leapt to the front of the queue, with Corriere dello Sport claiming that the French giants want to replace Edinson Cavani with the 25-year-old and are ready to offer him a five-year contract worth just over €40million in overall wages.
