TEAMtalk assesses the players on show on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium, where Chelsea held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw.

ARSENAL

WOJCIECH SZCZESNY: The Arsenal number one had plenty to do and held his ground well during an intense final 10 minutes. 8

BACARY SAGNA: The defender pushed forward well, showing little impact from a knock of heads with Florent Malouda in the first half. 7

THOMAS VERMAELEN: Quietened after the opening half, but the Belgian defender held the back line well. 7

LAURENT KOSCIELNY: A solid display from the French centre-back. 7

KIERAN GIBBS: The England left-back moved forward when needed and contributed in the midfield when required. 7

ALEX SONG: Provided a threat down the right with some dangerous crosses. 8

TOMAS ROSICKY: The Czech Republic international provided plenty of options from midfield in a decent performance. 7

AARON RAMSEY: Caught napping on the ball twice by Fernando Torres in the first half, did little to lift his performance in the second. 6

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN: Showed a lot of spirit throughout, chased the ball well but unable to provide cutting edge. 6

THEO WALCOTT: England winger often threatened down the right side, but a possible hamstring injury in the second half ended his afternoon early. 6

ROBIN VAN PERSIE: A booking early in the second half did nothing to tarnish a stellar performance from the Dutchman that saw him unluckily fail to make the scoresheet. 7

Substitutes:

ABOU DIABY (for Rosicky, 63): Looked fresh in only his second appearance for Arsenal since November. 7

ANDRE SANTOS (for Oxlade-Chamberlain, 69): Little to do in the second half but was full of energy. 6

GERVINHO (for Walcott, 59): Failed to really contribute anything of real value but showed plenty of spirit. 6

CHELSEA

PETR CECH: Not often stretched in the first half, but was equal to whatever was thrown at him after the break in a more testing second period. 8

JOSE BOSINGWA: Another strong display from the Portuguese defender, who was booked for grabbing Andre Santos' shirt in the second half. 7

GARY CAHILL: A wayward shot at goal after 24 minutes was a rare blight in a strong performance. Booked for a foul on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the second half. 7

JOHN TERRY: A sterling performance from the captain in defence, who showed few signs of his rib injury. 8

RYAN BERTRAND: An encouraging display from the 22-year-old, who worked hard and filled the void left by Ashley Cole. 7

MICHAEL ESSIEN: The midfielder had a better game than might be expected after his knee problems. Fed Fernando Torres well. 7

ORIOL ROMEU: Proved his ability to read the game with a fine saving tackle to end a rampant Arsenal run. 7

FLORENT MALOUDA: Clashed heads with Bacary Sagna midway through opening half, but was Chelsea's most promising threat up front throughout. 8

SALOMON KALOU: The Ivorian supported Fernando Torres well up front and will be disappointed his efforts did not result in a goal. 7

DANIEL STURRIDGE: Fumbled a key forward ball on 22 minutes and several passes were off target in a sloppy performance. 6

FERNANDO TORRES: Opened the match with purpose but the Spaniard failed to make a lasting impact. 7

Substitutes:

ASHLEY COLE (for Bertrand, 76): Booked for a foul on Alex Song shortly after taking to the pitch. Otherwise quiet. 6

JUAN MATA: (for Kalou, 73): Did plenty of running in his 20 minutes on the pitch, but did not add much. 6

JOHN OBI MIKEL (for Romeu, 65): Failed to make any real impact, but ensured smooth delivery through the midfield. 7
