Bradford v Walsall preview

Bradford could be without key trio Andrew Davies, James Hanson and Jon Stead when they entertain Walsall.

Slight hamstring strains forced both Davies and two-goal hero Hanson off at half-time during Wednesday night’s 2-0 victory at Leyton Orient, while Stead is nursing an ankle problem.

Phil Parkinson could hand starts to Gary MacKenzie and Francois Zoko, who impressed the Bantams boss off the bench in midweek, should those players fail to recover in time.

The win in the capital saw Bradford move back to within one point of sixth-placed Doncaster, with a game in hand on their play-off rivals.

Walsall will welcome back top scorer Tom Bradshaw following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The 15-goal striker has missed the last three games but has been passed fit.

James Chambers (hamstring) and Anthony Forde (groin) are also available again for the Saddlers.

Sam Mantom remains out with his long-term knee injury but has started kicking a ball again, although he does not have a comeback date.

Bradford will be without injured midfielder Nathan Doyle in their home game against Walsall.

Doyle was forced out of the weekend defeat at Shrewsbury due to a groin injury just before half-time and was replaced by skipper Gary Jones, who is still feeling the effects of a recent virus.

Winger Raffaele De Vita returned to the bench as an unused substitute on Saturday and could make his first appearance since mid-December following a troublesome hip/groin problem.

Midfielder Kyel Reid (knee) is out for the rest of the season and defender James Meredith (foot) remains a long-term absentee.

Walsall will welcome back defender Ben Purkiss when they make the trip to Bradford.

The 29-year-old missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient following his red card at Rotherham and will hope to reclaim his starting place from Paul Downing.

Dean Holden continues to work on his fitness after picking up a knee injury during training in February and will not feature.

The Saddlers will be hoping to put an end to a run which has seen them fall away from the top six following 10 games without a win in Sky Bet League One.
