Brentford manager Uwe Rosler wants to take the race for the play-offs to the final week of the season.
The Bees' hopes of a top-six finish suffered a major blow when they lost 2-1 to Stevenage on Saturday.
Rosler's side are now five points behind sixth-placed Boro with two games to play but the German has not thrown in the towel.
Brentford host Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend while Boro head to the other side of the Steel City.
And Rosler said: "I don't think Stevenage will win at Sheffield United.
"We have to win our home game and see where we are. We want to finish as high as we can."
