Bristol City manager Derek McInnes has issued an apology to fans after they were beaten 3-0 by Peterborough at the weekend.
The Scot felt it was the worst performance by the Robins since he took over four months ago and has assured the supporters that the team know improvement is necessary.
"I'd like to apologise to the fans for that performance. It was not good enough and we know we have to improve and be better than that," McInnes told the Bristol Evening Post.
"You have to feel for the fans, because they have come a long way on a cold and wet day, spent good money and gone home unhappy.
"When they travel in those numbers over a distance like that, they deserve more than they got."
Following Portsmouth's 10-point deduction for entering administration, City now find themselves six points clear of the relegation zone but face a tough task at home to Blackpool at the weekend.
