Torquay defender Mark Ellis expressed sympathy towards his former manager Paul Buckle following his sacking by Bristol Rovers.
Buckle, who arrived at the Memorial Stadium in the summer after leading the Gulls to the League Two play-off final last term, was dismissed on January 3 following a dismal first half of the season.
And 23-year-old Ellis said he felt for his old boss.
"We don't know what's gone on behind the scenes. I do feel for him," he said. "After what he did with us and where he got us, it just was not happening at Bristol Rovers.
"It's all about results and they were not getting results they should've been getting and the results they were expected to get.
"I'm sure he'll be back soon."
