Sterling is a player who thrived by association with a world class player in Luis (check the bridge work) Suarez…………He was always going to be found out as he doesn’t appear to have an instinctive football brain.
He’s quick, his feet are not too bad, but really you’ve got a Frank Bruno and you’re expecting him to be a Mike Tyson.
He’s made a few bob, he’ll continue to operate at a certain level but I doubt that any manager can make his reactions that heartbeat faster, though no doubt many will try.
Rather like Walcott in a way, I expect his career to fade into comfortable oblivion (though Walcott is a better player).
Certainly Sterling should not be good enough for the England team, but this is far from a great England team. No doubt he’ll contribute the occasional cross and use his speed but I don’t know why Roy didn’t take Townsend.
Unless he really is a manager who picks clubs not players.
