Bury have extended the contracts of defender Phil Picken and midfielder Mark Carrington.

Vice-captain Picken has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal until the end of the 2013/14 season, while Carrington will now remain at Gigg Lane until at least the summer having previously been on a month-to-month agreement.

Picken, 26, signed for the Shakers from Chesterfield in 2010 and has made 71 appearances for Richie Barker's men.

Carrington joined the club in September following his release from Hamilton, but has been hampered by a blood clot in his leg, restricting the 24-year-old to just six outings so far.
