Bury caretaker boss Peter Shirtliff hailed a positive start to the new campaign after a 0-0 draw with Brentford.
Shirtliff took charge at Gigg Lane following Richie Barker's departure to Crawley two weeks ago and has been delighted with his players' response.
He said: "I'm very pleased with the performance. I thought the players really worked hard on a red hot day.
"We put them under pressure and had quite a few efforts on goal but overall it was a fair result.
"We've got our first clean sheet of the season, we've got our first point on the board and we're unbeaten. That's a real positive for this club right now.
"We can carry on, move forward and hopefully get a result at Doncaster."
