Bristol City manager Derek McInnes is hopeful he can bring in a defender on loan in time for the Championship clash with Hull on Saturday.
McInnes has been left short of options at the back, with Louis Carey and Lewin Nyatanga struggling with injuries and James Wilson set to serve a suspension following his dismissal against Leeds last weekend.
But the City boss revealed he is close to recruiting a new face to bolster his ranks later this week.
He told the club's official website: "I was looking to bring in a defender anyway but it's certainly something that becomes more apparent now.
"We've targeted someone we'd like to bring in and all being well we'll have that someone in time for the Hull game.
"However, I stress there's still work to be done before we can get it signed and sealed."
