Daniel Jones is optimistic he has a future at Sheffield Wednesday after breaking back into the first team.

The defender made only three league appearances last season due to ankle and calf injuries and is now in the final year of his contract at Hillsborough.

But he has started the last three matches for the Owls after fighting his way back into Dave Jones' first team plans.

"My future was a bit uncertain at the start of the season so I just had to keep my head down and try and stay fit," said Jones.

"That's the key with me and I'm feeling good at the moment, so we'll take it from there.

"I was maybe going to go out on loan in the summer. I didn't kick a ball last season because of injury, so my idea was to come back in pre-season, work hard, keep my head down and stay fit and then hopefully get a chance and taking it when it came along.

"When I first came back I felt a bit rusty, but now I'm starting to feel good. I'm training every day and keeping on top of things and feeling good.

"I want to play as high as I possibly can and do as well as I can. I've just got to be confident and show what I'm good at and hopefully things will go the right way for me."
