Neil Warnock: Still believes Leeds can finish in top six

Neil Warnock has admitted Leeds United have fallen short of automatic promotion this season, but has not given up on a late run for the play-offs.

Leeds, who have lacked the consistency to mount a realistic challenge for a top-two finish under the former Sheffield United and QPR manager, remain five points adrift of a play-off place in the Championship following the weekend victory over Bristol City, which was their sixth straight home league win.

"We're not good enough for automatic, let's not kid ourselves," Warnock said.

"We've just got to preserve, improve the squad, and give yourself the best chance we can to get in the play-offs. I still think anybody's capable of that in the top half of the division."

Warnock, who took charge of Leeds on February 20 last year, added: "We've shown in a lot of games that we can beat anybody. But we've also shown that we can lose to anybody.

"The consistency at the top of the league means we are where we are and it's why we're looking for two or three players to move us up towards the other clubs. That's what I'd like."
