Manager Chris Powell reflected on a dismal second-half as champions Charlton failed to reach 100 points with a 2-2 draw at Preston.

Danny Haynes and Dany N'Guessan put the Addicks into a comfortable half-time lead but Nicky Hunt pulled one back before 40-year-old Graham Alexander, making his farewell appearance before retirement, duly stepped up to convert a 90th-minute free-kick and clinch a 2-2 draw.

"It was an entertaining game. We set ourselves out extremely well in the first half and deserved to lead at half-time," said Powell, whose side are on 98 points ahead of next weekend's final game of the season at home to Hartlepool.

"We looked very bright at 2-0 and I asked the lads at half-time to carry that on. But then we took a step back - some of the lads hadn't played for a while and that showed.

"I wanted to get the 100 points, which would have been another great accolade for us but we were pegged back by Preston.

"I suppose the script was written for a wonderful professional to come on in his last game and score. I've been in that position myself and I know he'll have desperately wanted to win the game for them."
