England full-back Ashley Cole has agreed a new one-year deal at Chelsea, according to reports on Saturday.

The news ends speculation that the left-back would leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer when his contract expired at the end of the season.

He had been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain but has decided to stay at the club he joined in 2006, with the paperwork expected to completed before Tuesday.

Cole's team-mate Frank Lampard is also out of contract at the end of this campaign but looks set to depart the west London club.
