Sturridge is one of the most greedy, overrated players I’ve ever seen. Has very poor decision making and a non-existent right foot. In my opinion, Sturridge cannot be included in an England squad until he learns to play as a team player. He’s bone idle, never passes the ball until he’s had four touches, by that time he’s usually lost possession. How can Rashford be on the bench for someone like Sturridge to play 82mins?

Sturridge wants personal glory that’s why Klopp prefers Firmino to him and there was a time when even the average Origi had superseeded him. Sturridge will be shown the door at Anfield at the end of this season, mark my words.

His decision making is poor but he is a great finisher. He reminds me of little pea, but he is better at everything then Hernandez. A good player to have in the squad.

Classy finisher question marks over his work rate and fitness. Very strong option for Liverpool to have on the bench though. It’s not much of a leap to imagine him wanting to leave if he doesn’t start matches, I remember a few of the pool lads saying as much a few months back.

Also,Rooney’s the greedy one. Pies, cigs and grandmothers (oh no,he doesn’t go with grandmothers anymore does he? He remembered he’s married ?).

‘Pies, cigs and grandmothers’ should have been the title of Rooney’s autobiography

I think only Joe Hart came out of the game with any credit.Andros Townsend
did more in his first 5 mins than Walcott in his previous two games.

Overall we could still be playing now,and still not scored.

Why can’t you post more like this? I totally agree with you and was about to start a thread with exactly the same points. Studge is too greedy to thrive under Klopp and Firmino has a much better work ethic. I’ll be surprised if Sturridge is still here after January. Sad thing is if he moves to an Arsenal or the like he will score for fun because he is a finisher.

You can see why he’s not first choice for Liverpool, he’s such a greedy player putting himself first before the team. He should have been hauled off at half time for Vardy or Rashford least they both play on the shoulders of defenders and play for the team.

It’s got to the point that you know Sturridge is going to shoot rather than pass whenever he’s in a dangerous position, even though it’s either an impossible angle or the defender is blocking his shot. The only time he passes on the area is when he expects a pass back.

Joe Hart’s performance was exceptional, he played like a sweeper keeper for one of the saves. His flying save to his left reminded me of David Seaman in the 2003 FA Cup against Sheffield United’s Paul Peschisolido, you have to have strong hands for that.

    I’ll play along….

Danny-boys problem is a very dodgy injury record and question marks about his attitude. On his day he’s a bloody good player and most sides wouldn’t say no. He just needs to get a good run of games under his belt, I mean in the 15 – 20 range…

When Danny boy (19) broke into the first team at City in 2008.
His contract had 10 months left.He refused to sign.Unless
he was rumoured to want circa £55K a week.Needless to say
    he moved to Chelsea.

Sturridge is 27 – if he’s going to be a top player he should at least have started by now. At his age, Rooney was one of the most feared strikers in world football and was putting teams like Slovenia and Malta to bed for fun.

Sturridge should not even be in the England squad, we might as well play Jermain Defoe, he’s a team player and scores goals even in the worst team in the prem League. His age should not come into it, if he’s playing well, include him. Football is not about tomorrow it’s about whats happening today.

Sturridge is overrated thats why he stepped down a level from City and Chelsea to Liverpool

What has happened to Jamie Vardy? He does not get any game time for England now. I cant imagine the same thing happening to any of the other players, winning player of the year and the league and not even being able to get a start in one game. There would be a media uproar. Southgate did a good thing dropping Rooney, but then spoilt it by picking Sturridge. Vardy and Rashford should have started ahead of Sturridge and Walcott

It’s easy to point the finger, but in truth the whole team didn’t play well.

Saw plenty of the ball but didn’t stretch the play, didn’t get the ball out wide to Lingaard and Walcott often enough, were slow and predictable, and Sturridge didn’t have much space to work with.

The closest we came to creating anything though, were moments like Sturridge bursting into the area, where he was clipped but not enough for a penalty according to the ref.
He’s a good player, but the whole team needs to be functioning in order for him to flourish, he can’t do it on his own.

Funnily enough, Rashford isn’t looking up to his usual standards the last couple games. Wonder if he’s starting to get frustrated, and losing interest a bit.
When Owen and Fowler broke into the Liverpool team, they kept their place because they were scoring and deserved it. But he’s been scoring, and still left out… Have to feel for the guy.

Sturridge has always had a problem with decision making and shoots when he should pass and passes when he should shoot but on his day he is still a very good striker.

I agree with jc the whole team played poorly, bar Hart.

Any manager that chooses Sturridge over Jamie Vardy to lead the national team is perceptually questionable. Southgate is not any different from the previous England managers. He will not take England anywhere. England would have thrashed Malta and beat Slovenia under Hodgson and I am not a fan of Hodgson whatsoever.

Look at it this way, Vardy led Leicester City to the title. Would Leicester have won the title if Sturridge was their main man? Not a chance in hell. Vardy should at least be the second choice striker after Harry Kane. Luis Suarez made Sturridge look good than he’s, Brendan Rodgers will agree with me, as he also made him look good as a manager.

Rasford is just 18 years old and I am sure if he keeps working hard and developing he’ll be a superstar for both club and country in years to come. I can’t remember anyone who has burst onto the scene in quite the way Marcus Rashford has since Ryan Giggs.

Sturbridge is quality imo. Very dangerous player who always has a goal in him. Has that touch of class that all great players have. He is very selfish though, but he is a striker after all!

He always makes the wrong decision. He is greedy, goes for personal glory then doesn’t score. As I said, he shouldn’t be in the team ahead of Vardy or even Rashford

Sturridge is greedy and one footed. When he should pass he shoots when he should shoot he passes. I’m surprised he has managed to stay injury free so far this season though

Here is another clip from yesterday game
