Chesterfield manager Paul Cook praised his side's defensive discipline following the 0-0 draw with Bradford at Valley Parade.
Capital One Cup quarter-finalists City had the better opportunities but could not break through a strong visiting defence.
Cook said: "It was a very disciplined, hard-working point. Bradford are having a fantastic season, but defensively we were very strong and we restricted them to very few chances.
"It was a night when our flair players couldn't get into the game and create chances, but when you get a point away from home that is very good.
"It wasn't a great game but to get a point when you are not playing particularly well is a good point."
