Colchester defender Tom Eastman has set his sights on nailing down a regular first-team spot next season.

The former Ipswich player has featured 31 times for the U's this season but wants to taste match action even more frequently when the 2012/13 campaign gets under way.

He strengthened his case with the equalising goal in the recent 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.

"I'm enjoying playing games and I've had a good run in the team," the 20-year-old told the Daily Gazette.

"I hope I can push on next season and I think I'm capable of playing more games next season, where I'm playing every week.

"It's a big opportunity for me next season to come in and prove that I can play week in, week out."
