11pm: As expected, the last 90 minutes of the transfer window have been the busiest of them all. Tottenham have beat the deadline to sign Hugo Lloris and Clint Dempsey, Manchester City have made Javi Garcia their fifth signing of the day, Chelsea have allowed Michael Essien to join Real Madrid on loan, and West Ham have signed Yossi Benayoun, also on loan, from Chelsea.

9.30pm: It now looks certain that Liverpool have failed in their bid for Clint Dempsey, but the American could yet leave Craven Cottage before the 11pm deadline, with reports that he is at Spurs Lodge ahead of a move to Tottenham.

Spurs are also hoping to sign Hugo Lloris and Joao Moutinho before the deadline, while Stephane Mbia is said to be on his way to QPR to complete his move from Marseille.

8.30pm: After a busy day so far, it's turning out to be a quiet final evening of the transfer window. However, Everton have now completed the signing of Bryan Oviedo from FC Copenhagen for a reported £5million.

Roque Santa Cruz and Dedryck Boyata have left Manchester City on loan, to Malaga and FC Twente respectively, while one-time City and Chelsea target Edinson Cavani has extended his contract at Napoli until 2017.

Liverpool and Fulham, meanwhile, have still not agreed a fee for Clint Dempsey.

7.15pm: Finally! Southampton have now completed the signing of Gaston Ramirez from Bologna for a reported club-record fee of £12million. The Uruguayan has signed a four-year contract at St Mary's.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, look to be closing on the capture of Genk striker Christian Benteke, who has flown to Birmingham after the two clubs finally agreed a fee, while Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia is reported to be in Manchester ahead of his move to City. 6.15pm: Our friends at Sky Sports are reporting that Liverpool and Tottenham are now battling it out for Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey's signature. Where will the American end up come 11pm?

Gael Kakuta has joined Vitesse Arnhem from Chelsea on a season-long loan.

There's also some talk of Michael Essien possibly leaving Stamford Bridge for Arsenal.

5.30pm: Nicklas Bendtner has signed for Juventus on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal. Here's his reaction on Twitter...

5pm: Swansea have confirmed the club-record £5.55m signing of winger Pablo Hernandez from Valencia. The 27-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at the Liberty. The fee is £50,000 more than the Swans recently paid Celtic for Ki Sung-yeung.

4.40pm: Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham's pursuit of Joao Moutinho has hit a snag.

Manchester City have agreed a £16million fee with Benfica for midfielder Javi Garcia.

Birmingham are keen on re-signing striker DJ Campbell from QPR, according to reports.

4pm: Maicon's move from Inter Milan to Manchester City is now done - it's a permanent deal, the fee is undisclosed. Here's his welcome message to City fans...

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is confident that the club can finally tie up a deal for Gaston Ramirez before the transfer deadline passes.

3.24pm: Fulham have confirmed the signing of striker Dimitar Berbatov, 31, on a two-year deal from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

3pm: Hamburg have confirmed the signing of Rafael van der Vaart from Tottenham.

Stoke are reportedly in talks with Blackburn about the possible sale of midfielder Steven N'Zonzi. Talk too that Potters striker Kenwyne Jones could be off to Marseille.

Fulham are said to be signing Michel Bastos from Lyon for around £7million.

Another Lyon player, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, is at Tottenham to tie up a transfer but it appears a fee has not yet been agreed.

Yann M'Vila will not sign for an English club today, says the Rennes chairman.

Manchester City's Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz is having a medical at Malaga.

2.30pm: Everton are understood to have completed the signing of Bryan Oviedo from FC Copenhagen after the Costa Rican winger was granted a work permit.

Reports of a helicopter arriving at Fulham! Who could that be?

2pm: Mexico forward Giovanni dos Santos leaves Tottenham for Real Mallorca on a permanent four-year deal.

West Brom are continuing their search for a new left-back and are holding talks with Dynamo Kiev's Goran Popov.

Celta Vigo have reached an agreement which will see Arsenal forward Park Chu-young join on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent move.

1.30pm: Sky Sports sources suggest Tottenham have now agreed a £22million fee with Porto for midfielder Joao Moutinho. That would represent a club-record fee from Spurs for the 25-year-old Portugal international.

It also appears a deal has now been agreed between Manchester City and Inter Milan for the transfer of Brazil right-back Maicon.

1.14pm: Stephane Mbia is on his way to London to undergo a medical at Queens Park Rangers and complete a transfer deadline-day move to Loftus Road.1pm: Charlie Adam is now a Stoke player - he's agreed a four-year deal after leaving Liverpool. The fee is understood to be around £4million.

Tottenham and Sunderland confirm that Danny Rose's season-long loan move to the Stadium of Light has been sealed.

Fulham have signed young Dutch forward Chris David from FC Twente.

Holland winger Ibrahim Afellay has joined Schalke on a season-long loan from Barcelona, both clubs have confirmed.

12.27pm: Aston Villa have confirmed they have completed the signing of Chesterfield striker Jordan Bowery, 21, for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract.

Argentine defender Federico Bessone has joined Swindon on a free transfer from Swansea, signing a six-month contract.

12.18pm: Manchester City confirm the signing of Scott Sinclair from Swansea. He'll wear the number 11 shirt at the Etihad Stadium. Here's his arrival, as seen on City's YouTube channel.

11.43am: Fulham have confirmed the signing of Kieran Richardson from Sunderland on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

11.20am: Reports indicate Clint Dempsey has turned down a move to Aston Villa.

Swansea's pursuit of Feyenoord winger Jerson Cabral could be off as FC Twente are also in for him.

Stoke have confirmed that a fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Charlie Adam.

Nigel de Jong is now an AC Milan player - the deal to take the Dutchman to the San Siro from Manchester City has been concluded.

Sydney FC have completed the signing for Juventus legend Alessandro del Piero.

11am: Liverpool have confirmed that Jay Spearing's loan move to Bolton is for the whole season.

Tottenham left winger / left-back Danny Rose is heading for Sunderland on loan after a deal was agreed, while Jermaine Jenas is reportedly having talks with the Black Cats.

Portsmouth youngster Sam Magri has signed for QPR.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been discussing the prospect of Dimitar Berbatov returning to Tottenham.

10.20am: News breaks of Aston Villa reportedly agreeing a fee with Fulham for wantaway attacking midfielder Clint Dempsey, who had previously been linked with Liverpool and Sunderland. Could Paul Lambert be set to steal the American on the final day of the transfer window? The Villa boss says he's unaware of any deal.

Villa are on the verge of completing a move for Chesterfield's Jordan Bowery.

Meanwhile, Rafael van der Vaart is understood to have left Spurs Lodge as he prepares to sign for Hamburg.

Everton have agreed a fee with FC Copenhagen for winger Bryan Oviedo.

Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner is in Italy and is ready to put pen to paper at Juventus.

Charlie Adam is undergoing a medical at Stoke as he prepares to sign from Liverpool.

Scott Sinclair is at Carrington to sign for Manchester City from Swansea. City are also working on deals to bring in Fiorentina's Matija Nastasic, Maicon from Inter Milan and Javi Garcia of Benfica.

The Swans are going to replace Sinclair with Feyenoord winger Jerson Cabral, while Andrea Orlandi heads to Brighton for an undisclosed fee.

Chelsea have loaned Thorgan Hazard to Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem.
