Darlington's caretaker managers Craig Liddle and Neil Maddison will add Nathan Mulligan to their squad for the game at Shrewsbury.

The midfielder, signed from Stockton and Norton last October, has been drafted in as cover for Gareth Waite, who is struggling with a knee injury.

Waite is rated 50-50 for Liddle and Maddison's second game in charge but defenders Stuart Giddings (groin), Mark Bower (ankle) and Richie Byrne (hamstring) and midfielder Chris Lumsdon (match fitness) all remain sidelined.

Veteran striker Noel Whelan is not expected to be involved after breaking down again in his second comeback match.

Whelan, dogged by hamstring trouble, lasted 58 minutes before being replaced by Mor Diop in the recent home defeat to Barnet.

Darlington, expected to announce a permanent replacement for Steve Staunton next week, have won only once on the road in League Two this season, at Rotherham in January.
