Highly-rated Derby goalkeeper Frank Fielding is under consideration to represent Great Britain at this summer's Olympic Games.

Team GB boss Stuart Pearce has written to Fielding to check his availability for the football competition at London 2012.

Rams boss Nigel Clough, who brought the 23-year-old to Pride Park at the end of last season, said: "For there to be interest in Frank to be a part of the Olympic Games is only a good thing for both him and Derby County.

"He is highly regarded in the England set-up, as we have seen with his call-up to the full England squad this season for their Euro 2012 qualifiers and the fact that the FA monitor his progress very closely.

"We will see how things unfold with this in the coming months because, at this moment in time, all we know is that Frank has been asked if he would be open to making himself available for Team GB and nothing more."

Pearce knows all about Fielding. The former Blackburn trainee was first-choice goalkeeper in Pearce's England squad at the European Under-21 Championships last summer and has twice been called up into Fabio Capello's senior squad as back-up.
