Dickov wants Bennett stay

Bennett has been offered a new deal by Rovers but held talks last week with Portsmouth, whose new manager Paul Cook has long admired the 24-year-old.

Dickov remains in negotiations with Bennett and seems fairly confident of keeping the player at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“There’s been interest in Kyle because he’s a good player but all the conversations I’ve had with him and his representatives are that he wants to stay,” said the Scot.

“We’ll sit down with him and his agent this week.

“I know about the interest and they’re not trying to do it behind our backs – we’re aware of what’s going on – but all the indications are that he wants to stay.”
