Rangers defender Sasa Papac is determined to stay on course for a medal double this season when the Gers face Dundee United at Ibrox.

Papac is looking for a Scottish Cup fifth-round win over United on Sunday.

Ally McCoist's men moved to within one point of Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic last weekend with a convincing 4-0 home win over Hibernian, albeit they have played a game more.

After disappointment in Europe and in the Scottish Communities League Cup earlier in the season, the Bosnian full-back is keen to capture the domestic double which remains up for grabs.

"The Dundee United game is a very important one for us because we can only win two trophies now this season," Papac told the club's official website.

"We have to be focused and keep our concentration because we all want to get through to the next round.

"You train all of your life to win titles and cups and if, at the end of your career, you have medals that is great.

"That is why we must give everything against Dundee United and I hope we can get to another final.

"It is still early but this must be our target and it's the same for every team in the competition.

"Last weekend we played very well against Hibs and it was an important victory after the frustrating result against Aberdeen.

"So in the league we have to try and go on a run of victories and if we keep playing like we did against Hibs we can win the title.

"But our focus now is on getting through to the next round of the Scottish Cup and we look forward to playing Dundee United."

Steven Davis has two chances of lifting silverware as Rangers' new captain, and Papac was delighted with the Ulsterman's appointment as successor to David Weir.

He said: "Davo is our leader on the pitch and he has been through everything before at Rangers.

"He knows what it takes to win trophies and he is a great player.

"He has been very consistent over the years and has not missed many games which also very important.

"So when Davie Weir left I felt it was naturally for Davo to take over.

"I am delighted about this and it was good to him score a couple of goals against Hibs.

"It is not always easy for a midfield player to do this every week but I'm sure this has given him a lot of confidence and hopefully he will go on to score more this season."
