Some classic lines in the media about Hendo trying to emulate Stevie G with desperate shots from outside the box after yesterdays disappointment.

I know we’ve had the debate about him being Captain but does he merit a place in the side?

He huffs and puffs a lot but what else does he bring?

He didn’t play in our best performances this season. By that I particularly mean Chelsea (a) Citeh (a) Soton (a).

The PL games he played in are as follows :
    Stoke (a) 1-0 W Bournemouth (h) 1-0 W WBA (h) 2-2 D Watford (a) 0-3 L Leicester (h) 1-0 W
    Sunderland (a) 1-0 W Arsenal (h) 3-3 D ManUtd (h) 0-1 L

I know stats can lie and be interpreted in many ways – but how many of the above were good performances? Possibly Leicester and Stoke in the 1st game.

You can of course also say he didn’t play in a lot of games we played poorly in. Both WHU games, Palace and Newcastle.

His stats are 37% shooting accuracy, 79% passing, 45% duels won, , etc. etc.

For me he’s a squad player and no better than any of the others. Can’s stats are much better than his.

Henderson being Captain is a sad reflection on how far we have fallen. He is an average player who plays well here & there but more often than not plays at a pretty average level, much like the rest our our squad to be honest. People say I’m doom & gloom but unless Klopp gets to buy some players we will remain a mid table team that pops up here & there with a better than average performance.

Still think we’re more average when he plays and better when he doesn’t!

Whether you rate him or not, he was LFC’s most creative player last season contributing to 15 league goals (9 assists and 6 goals). More so than Sterling’s 14 (7 goals, 7 assits), and Coutinho’s 10 (5 goals 5 assists).

So I find this criticism of him a little absurd, especially considering he’s just back from injury and you haven’t mentioned his match winning performance vs Bournemouth or his goal and assist vs the Baggies, in your list of ‘good games’ from him this season.

He missed a couple chances against Utd, ok but let’s not go overboard.

Hendo is another of those players for us who will give us a 6 out of 10 every week. He’s ok, but that’s it, just ok. He’s not a player who can boss a game for us or change the course of a game. He’ll never be terrible but he’ll never be brilliant…just like so many in our squad

I actually prefer him to be in the side. He’s no Gerrard but he does drive the team forward with his energy. Captain material? No. But he is a valuable member of this squad. I’d prefer him ahead of Milner and Lallana any day of the week. He’s come leaps and bounds from the player we were all slagging off in his first season. I honestly think he’s a decent player but his style of play requires quality around him which we do not have. He put pressure on opponents defensively while providing an extra body going forward. He’s never going to be a superb playmaker but he’s good at what he does.

Another thing, why are we making scapegoats of individual players this season? The whole team has been poor and they don’t look like improving. No one person can shoulder all the blame for these awful performances and not a single one has stood out either. This season may be a write off but I have every faith that Klopp will know who should stay and who should go in the summer. Success isn’t going to fall into our lap overnight. Get over it.

We currently are a team of good players but not great.
There needs a sprinkling of stardust in the team.
2 or 3 players who can really set Anfield alight.
Sturridge is one but will he ever get on the pitch again?

Whilst I wouldn’t profess to be his biggest fan I recall that when he was sent off in one of the final games a season or so ago we really missed his contribution, in my view he’s improved a fair bit since we bought him and hopefully JK will continue that improvement as that’s one of his forte’s. Razor,Your Second Paragraph is correct,We do seem to be making scapegoats out of certain individuals but some players were expected to step up this season and that hasn’t happened,Yes injuries have stymied us to an extent but both collectively and in some cases individually it hasn’t been good enough.

He hasn’t been the same player since the last injury. Talk is it could be permanent and he will have to play in pain if he wants to continue. He was utter pants on Sunday, as were most of the team.

@j c People always ignore the stats when it comes to Henderson, especially when it comes to creativity. Stats showed how much we struggled without him last season. He’s just came back from a long term injury, hardly played this season and now being made a scapegoat. YNWA though

If there’s even a grain of truth in today’s rumours regarding Henderson and Tottenham, I say we take the money and run, without a doubt. Imagine what we could do with that money now we have a manager who can actually spot a player

Henderson needs to show he has what it takes to be lfc captain on Thursday. If we go behind early, he needs to rally the team and get us going

To give him credit he’s done a bit better after the CCFinal and played a part in our recent success but his game is lots of running and chasing and being strong. I still think he lacks creativity and the skills to be a top player. There’s quite a few better than him in the PL if we’re honest!

I’m not in a hurry personally to see the back of Henderson, even though he frustrates me at times with his lack of cutting edge and quality, but on the same token, I wouldn’t stand in the way of any club out there wanting to lure him.

Seems a bit perverse for a whole page of this forum dedicated to slagging off the captain when the team appear to have turned the corner and are playing exhilarating football and have just stuffed bothe the Mancs! WTF?

I this all talk of what players are good enough or not should be kept untill the season is over.
There are many players in our team that have underperformed this season but then again we seem to turning a corner, we will find out the next 2 games.
