Euro Podcast: England post-mortem

admin

TEAMtalk’s Matty Briggs is in the hosting chair and is joined in the studio by Sky Bet’s Tim Clement and TEAMtalk colleague Rob McCarthy.

The trio analyse England’s Euro 2012 campaign and their shortcomings against Italy, with McCarthy saying he feels let down by the Three Lions.

McCarthy also believes Roy Hodgson got his substitutions wrong against the Azzurri, while Clement tells us how the money just kept coming and coming for England throughout the 120 minutes on Sunday night.

Clement also believes Andrea Pirlo’s brilliant penalty was the turning point in the shoot-out, as it put huge doubts in the minds of the England players.

Briggs also suggests that Hodgson’s rigid 4-4-2 system is ineffective at international level and McCarthy concludes that England’s options are limited and Clement agrees the pool of capable players available to England is small.

The trio also look at the two semi-finals between Spain and Portugal and Germany and Italy and they all agree that Spain v Germany looks like being the likely final next Sunday.

The trio are split on the tournament winners though, with Clement going for Spain and McCarthy and Briggs plumping for Germany.
