Who’d have thought?
October 28, 2015 at 4:10 pm #684823Nothing surprises me about FIFA mate, Blatter and all his cronies should be jailed for all their dodgy dealings over the years. The lot of them make Nick Leeson of Bearings Bank look as straight as a die !
October 29, 2015 at 8:46 am #685528FIFA needs a complete clear out, I don’t trust any of the candidates currently on offer. The world cup in Russia being decided before the vote is pretty disgusting as countries are paying a lot of money to launch their campaigns and it means nothing. Also it has now come out that the 2022 World Cup was already decided as well, it was to be given to the USA, but in Blatters own words ‘a late swing gave it Quatar.’ Hmm I wonder what caused that late swing, it couldn’t have been millions of pounds landing in various peoples bank accounts could it.
October 29, 2015 at 8:49 am #685534Ashtonblue – I wouldn’t put Leeson and Blatter on the same page, Leeson lost lots of money doing his job badly, and then broke the law trying to recover it, not for personal gain. Blatter’s whole presidency has been for personal gain, and that seems to be how everyone else in FIFA works, it is rotten to the core.
October 29, 2015 at 9:04 am #685552I dont think there’s been anyone in the history of the world with so much neck. He actually thinks he’s done nothing wrong, he’s so powerful that whatever he does is right. Sort of reminds me of that confused ‘but I’m invincible’ look Ceaucescu had on his face when they carted him off to be shot.
I knew or hoped, that day when they did the obviously-crooked vote, that clearly publicly humiliating the British PM and heir to the throne – and enjoying it – would come back to haunt him like this.
Bide your time, a little favour from the Americans – Shelley’s poem Ozymandias summed up beautifully. ‘Look on ye mighty and despair’
October 29, 2015 at 9:27 am #685579I love how everyone’s overlooking the fact the only reason anything actually went down in regards to this is the fact FIFA thought they were bigger than the USA and could screw them over for Qatar, so America just went mental and nailed them to the wall for it. Nothing would’ve happened if that World Cup was held in the States like was “agreed”.
‘Murka.
October 29, 2015 at 9:28 am #685582@johnstaustell. I can see you are classing this forum up mate – references to Ceaucescu and Percy Shelly.
October 29, 2015 at 11:02 am #685717Haha – sorry Hatters, it might send one or two rushing for Wiki!
October 30, 2015 at 11:08 am #687145not many or should say any viable candidates available-just hope that ego-maniac Platini does not get in again -his even worse than Blatter or at the very least the same
October 30, 2015 at 11:18 am #687190Megadeth – You are using Blatters excuse, he actually came out and tried to justify his corruption by saying had the world cup gone to USA nothing would have happened. By your logic if you burgle a house and don’t get caught then you have done nothing wrong. If there was a copper waiting for you outside would your defence be, if you weren’t standing there nothing would have happened?
You do have things slight confused though. FIFA didn’t try to screw the USA, they mostly wanted to give the USA the world cup, but then Platini came in backing the Quatar world cup and some FIFA voters apparently found large sums of money in their accounts for pledging their votes to Quatar, thus giving a late swing in the voting and scuppering FIFA’s plan to give it to the USA.
October 30, 2015 at 11:49 am #687244The world’s greatest sport will forever be tarnished if Fifa are in control. It’s pretty obvious that corruption is present throughout the organisation and Uefa and that several countries FAs are also involved, even Germany! I suspect it has spread so far that it would be impossible for another new organisation to take its place as their are not enough untarnished people and countries to premote or support a new organisation. Sadly I fear we are probably stuck with Fifa.
October 30, 2015 at 12:12 pm #687289ManCityJim – It is not the organisation itself but the people running it, it doesn’t matter what the governing body is called it just needs a clean sweep, whether that can be done is another matter, the new candidates don’t fill me with confidence. I would rather it be some bloke from Crewe that has been a season ticket all his life and is not interested in money and just loves the game.
All this rubbish that Blatter is saying about it being just because of who got the world cup is just that rubbish, I don’t remember the same being said when Japan / S. Korea won it or South Africa, that was because we could see the logic of spreading the game, Quatar was just about spreading money through FIFA delegates bank accounts.October 30, 2015 at 1:40 pm #687466Pax, you’ve completely misunderstood what I said. I’m not saying there wasn’t any wrongdoings, I’m saying that America just nuked them out of spite.
October 30, 2015 at 2:29 pm #687571Megadeath – USA doesn’t care one jot about ‘soccer’ or world cups. If there is any reason it is what I said above – that humiliation of England by Blatter. Dave says to Obama – ‘why dont you get your guys to have a look at this lot?’
October 31, 2015 at 9:54 am #688033“Megadeath – USA doesn’t care one jot about ‘soccer’ or world cups.”
Completely untrue. Don’t confuse America for some hicks in a trailer park.
“If there is any reason it is what I said above – that humiliation of England by Blatter.”
England’s involvement is like England’s involvement in everything else America sink their teeth into, eg. they just tag along. Make no mistake, this is America taking down Blatter. Look at the authorities involved.
“Dave says to Obama – ‘why dont you get your guys to have a look at this lot?’”
Yeah, because people take Cameron seriously. C’mon. You may as well be saying “Tony” suggested “George Jr.” check out Iraq.
