Micky returns

Back where he belongs

Just four months after bidding him a fond farewell I’m writing to welcome Micky Adams back to Vale Park. It’s bizarre event, not like taking an ex back following past misdemeanours, but some sort of miracle.

The Vale board may have played their trump card as they continue their power struggle in Burslem, but most fans will be glad they know exactly what they are getting with Adams following months of turmoil.

Is he back to finish what he started? This can only be promotion, anything less would be a bitter disappointment for the fans and Adams himself who admitted he let his heart rule his head when he left Stoke for Sheffield.

groan

No doubt the playing squad let out a collective groan at the prospect of all the hard work they’ll be expected to put in over the close season and shift of the extra pounds gained from the Gannon era. Adams won’t have any hesitation in cracking the whip and pride, passion and belief will be instilled back into the squad after it fell to the wayside.

They’ll be no more embarrassing stories of coaching staff falling out on team buses or players being arrested for drunken brawls. Port Vale will be put back on the map for one reason, a footballing one.

We have our man back, let’s kick start that love affair once again and fingers crossed this time next year Port Vale will be celebrating that special word PROMOTION!
