Exeter boss Paul Tisdale was delighted with striker Jamie Cureton after his brace in the 3-2 victory over Gillingham.

Despite Chris Whelpdale's fourth-minute opener the Grecians inflicted a first defeat in seven on the Gills, as 37-year-old Cureton notched his 14th and 15th goals of the season - and also missed a penalty.

He said: "Jamie is a key player for us, and he showed why yet again. He's on a rich vein of form and if you watch him when he's not on the ball you can see why.

"It's great to get a win, I've seen our fans standing in that stand before in the wind and rain, because we always seem to play here in the winter, so for them to make that journey home happy is huge.

"I'm pleased we were able to send them home happy. We've had a couple of good weeks, because we've been putting into practice what we've been putting into training.

"The key was that nobody tried to do too much, everyone just did their job and that's what got us over the line."
