Argyle closing in on safety

admin

This has been the most exciting end to a season for some time for Argyle in my opinion. We may still have no guaranteed our safety but we are playing good football, not conceding many and winning games.

The Burton game could have changed our season. Being so close to getting something form the game and to have it snatched from us in the dying minutes was heartbreaking. This could have sent us in to a tailspin as we followed this with a mid week game away at Chesterfield against another top team.

instead of panicking Plymouth played the game like the Burton game never happened went out and scored two goals in the first half and held strong in the end to win 2-1 and take three precious points back to down to Plymouth with us.

One more good result and Argyle will retain football league status for another season. Although we aren’t safe yet we are now scaling the dizzy heights of 17th in the table which is one of the highest places we have been in the league for some time.

John Sheridan had a two week blip near the beginning of his time at Argyle but besides from that period I think he has been brilliant giving the club one of its highest win percentages in some time now. I can’t wait to see what he can do with a whole season.

Sheridan has done everything I hoped he would. He did some good dealings in the loan market, he got us organized and has got us taking points from games. What the results and performances have done is get the crowd behind the team and thanks to some good ticket deals for certain games with have had some great attendances which have acted as a 12th man.

I think it is important that we end the season on a high, so we go in to next season with optimism and see what Sheridan can do with a full season in charge but first we need to win our last home game of the season this Saturday and guarantee safety.
