Tottenham FanZoner Nik Wardle is licking his lips at the potential prospect of Brazilian ace Paulinho arrving at White Hart Lane this summer.
There's been lots of speculation over the weekend that Spurs are close to signing Brazilian star, Paulinho. We'll have to wait until after the Confederations Cup to find out if this is true, but if it is, I'd be one happy Spurs fan.
If this comes to fruition he would form a formidable partnership with Sandro in Spurs' central midfield. Both have pace, power and decent technical ability.
So often in the Premier League, the battle is won in the midfield and this pairing would give us a really strong base. Potentially, they could do something similar for Spurs that Emmaunuel Petit and Patrick Vieira did for Arsenal back in the late 90s. Not so much in terms of taking us to league glory - but in terms of making opposition midfielders gulp in the tunnel.
I'd like to see Moussa Dembele in more of a number ten role for Spurs and the arrival of a world class talent such as Paulinho could see him play further forward. If he were happy to be a squad player, I'd keep Scott Parker - especially given Sandro's injury record.
Paulinho is the kind of signing Spurs need to maintain our recent record of challenging for the top four. Let's hope it comes off.
