Eriksen set to emulate Modric

Since his departure in 2012 Tottenham have struggled to find a player to replace the great Luka Modric.

However, the hunt looks to be over in Christian Eriksen.

The Dane is a strong contender for Spurs’ Player of the Season award and has become a fan favourite since joining from Ajax. In a season riddled with disappointment, Eriksen seems to be the silver lining we have been searching for.

At the age of 22 he looks sure to have a long and prosperous career at The Lane, with 9 goals, 8 assists and costing a modest £11 million pounds, Eriksen looks to be a steal. Being so young and having such an affect shows how much potential he possesses, by far our most successful purchase from last summers shopping spree.

Despite being played predominately onto the left the playmaker manages to change and inspire games which he has displayed time and time again. If he were to play in his preferred ‘number 10’ position there is no doubt he would be bossing every game.

This summer will show yet another re-vamp at Tottenham, out with the not so old and in with the new, but whoever our manager may be the aim should be to build a team around Eriksen, someone who is a visionary, like his predecessor Modric.

Modric ran games and made the team tick, Starting from scratch and making Eriksen the main focus would give the team the energy and class which has been lacking for majority of this campaign and quite possibly last season too.

With just 5 games left it looks like our chances of the coveted top four is over for another year but we can take a huge boost in the form of the Dane. He has already proved his price tag and worthy of the lily white shirt in just his first term, and us fans can look forward to seeing what else he has to offer in seasons to come.
