To a man, table-topping Rochdale get the thumbs-up from delighted FanZone blogger Will Maxwell.
Will Maxwell tips his hat to table-topping Rochdale
Halfway through the season and things could not be going any better.
I don't think we've ever been top of the league at this point before, and my god it feels good! We are playing some of the finest football ever seen at Spotland and I'd say we definitely play the best football in the league. On our day we are untouchable.
From the goalkeeper to our deadly strike force, everyone is playing well. Keith Hill has done well to get Tom Heaton in from Manchester United to cover the injured Kenny Arthur. He's played well for Championship teams on loan before now and you can see his quality shine through in every game.
The defence has been extremely good too, marshalled by a young Rochdale lad, Craig Dawson, who is defying his age and lack of experience and putting in a top-notch performance week-after-week.
Another loan signing in the shape of Jason Taylor and Jason Kennedy have formed a formidable partnership in midfield, so much so that club legend Gary Jones is currently warming the bench. I'm a massive fan of Jonah but I have to say the Two Ginger Jason's are well worth there place in the side at the moment.
Out wide, another loan star Will Atkinson had an eight-game spell with us in which he never lost a game. He played extremely well for us, he's had to come in while Will Buckley has been injured and no disrespect to Buckley, we haven't missed him at all. Perhaps there's something in the name that makes Wills so good, although I may be biased!
We bought Chris O'Grady this week, and first of all, a massive hats off and thank you to the board for pulling this deal off. We know finances are tight but they've somehow managed to bring him in and it could be the signing of the season.
Although I criticised the selling of Adam Le Fondre earlier in the season, his replacement was O'Grady and the partnership he's formed with Dagnall has been one that's troubled every defence they've come up against. Now we've done the business in signing who we wanted, its crucial we don't let any of the first-team players go out of the door.
Our last home game saw over us get 4,000 for a non-derby game for the first time in ages. I was delighted as this team deserves to be watched by more people and more importantly we need the money! It was great to see so many new faces at Spotland and usually when we get a big crowd, the team let us down but Keith Hill tore up another page of the 'Rochdale Rule Book' and everyone went home with a smile on there face after a 4-1 victory.
We travel to Aldershot next up in what will be our first game of 2010! It seems a long time since we've played but we managed to get a few games on that other clubs around us like Rotherham didn't, so we don't have a massive fixture pile-up to contend with.
It will be a horrible journey to make on a Tuesday night but it will be well worth it if we repeat the 4-1 score line from last season.
