Barnsley FanZoner Chris Ellison hits out at Charlton for last weekend's postponed game and looks ahead to potential new signings at Oakwell.

This week is certainly going to be an interesting one at Oakwell. When it comes to matters OFF the pitch our executives and their staff are working tirelessly to try and compensate fans somehow for the shambolic events at the Valley on Saturday while ON it rumours continue to surface about the personnel given the task to save our season.

The postponement of the Charlton Athletic game on Saturday was an absolute disgrace in every way possible. I will not go on about it for long because discussions have taken place ever since, however what I will say is that even one of our own players took to Twitter and complained that our loyal, travelling fans were not considered. Extraordinary really when a player says that and the club who were supposed to be doing the entertaining didn't have a care in the world.

I share the same opinion of most in that because the staff at Charlton knew all week that the pitch was in a state (so much so that they had called their last two matches off) they could have had an inspection the night before the game. Instead they wait until 1 hour and 45 minutes before kickoff - when all Reds fans had already got there - to let the match official and our manager make the decision to not go ahead (disgusting). Ben Mansford and Danny Wilson were quite rightly appalled by the actions of a fellow professional football club and promised that steps would be taken to ensure some kind of retribution was given.

Charlton should in my opinion be charged in some way by the FA whether it be by a fine or points deduction, of course knowing the justice system the Addicks will probably get a slap on the wrist but something ought to be done for the un-professionalism of it all.

Having said all of that, yes the decision was reached in the wrong manner but it could possibly turn out to be to our advantage as we now have an extra week and a game to solve our problems. Danny had already brought in Brek Shea and Ryan McLaughlin, who was chomping at the bit to get started, to try and help us maintain our Championship status but now we have even more time to strengthen the squad further and an extra game for them to gel.

To me this is only a good thing and it could be an important time for us. It has emerged that strikers Adam Le Fondre and Leroy Lita are also on our wish list, while Liam Lawrence has also signed up. I want Reds fans to chip in on here and give me their opinions on these rumours.

Lawrence I believe will be an amazing asset in the middle of the park for us, he is a player I have always rated.

Reading hitman Le Fondre's name has done the rounds a lot this past week and he is a player who we have tried to sign before. Personally I think he is one of the best strikers in the Championship and it would be an unbelievable signing, however, for that reason I think other clubs will be interested in him and we may find it difficult to prise him to Oakwell.

According to reports we are also expected to sign Leroy Lita from Swansea ahead of the Blackpool game this coming Saturday. The 29 year-old who spent time on loan at our friends Sheffield Wednesday last season is still out of favour at the Welsh club and if it is true about him joining us then again I believe it would be a good acquisition. He is a goal scorer with a proven record in all divisions, something which we 100% need.

If Lita arrives at the well this week it would open the door to release one of our senior strikers and with Wilson quashing the Chris O'Grady to Nottingham Forest rumours the player to leave could be third choice Jason Scotland.

One player to have already departed, Scott Wiseman has caused a stir amongst the reds faithful this week by claiming on BBC Radio Lancashire that he had been unhappy with us for the past two years, I am not going to give my opinion on this yet as I want fans to let me know what they think about it.

Whatever happens before Saturday one thing for sure is that things are finally happening both inbound and outbound and it is going to be very intriguing indeed.
