Why start with Carrick and Fellaini, the slowest cmf players in PL,in an away game against a counterattacking Stoke? The game was lost before it was started. So this was the masterplan in one of the most important games of the season,at least for the managers. Did Giggsy forget to report on how Stoke plays the game? And they get paid for this? What a joke!

Makes sense to me. LvG likes to bore the opposition do death with midfield possession and sideways passes. Who better than Carrick for that. In LvG eyes Carricks starts every game if fit.

As for Fellaini, well he can’t rely on the technical foreign players like Martial Depay for goals against a physical Stoke and in the wind and rain. He needs some brawn not brain. Somebody to get a foot to it in a melee. Somebody to let them know we can get physical as well.

And he is still in trial and error mode. Trying different combinations in the hope he stumbles across something that works and will be hailed as genius. Its the substituting goalkeepers for penalty shoot ploy. If it works he basks in the accolades and if not just brush it under the carpet.

And perhaps the biggest reason of all, does it make any difference who he picks. Are you suggesting the result would be different had he picked anybody else.

Would you like to tell us which of our cm’s have pace and please don’t say Herrera because he’s got none either! They are all one paced or no pace.

It doesn’t matter which area of the team you choose to highlight mate, each one is infested with players who have the strength, power and pace of my 80 yr old mother and it is truly pathetic and painful to watch. If you held a 100 metre ‘sprint’ race consisting of Rooney,Fellaini,Mata,Blind,Bastian and Carrick as the competitors it would take at least an hour for a winner to be declared, that’s how bad things are!.

Lol,Blacky. Sad thing is you are bloody right.
As for the central midfield against Stoke i would have picked Schneiderling and Herrera. Both are quicker and can stop counterattacks which should be the main criteria against Stoke. Fellaini and Carrick combo is easy to play through and run through. I am far from sure we would have won with Schneiderlin and Herrera,Stoke were the better team…and it was windy=)

When Matt Busby was manager he had a very simple message to his team and it invariably worked.
All he said was go out play football, and enjoy yourselves.
Football today is a game dominated by ‘theories’ and ‘tactics’ and it shouldn’t be so.
Football should be a simple game played well.
