Central defender Granqvist is likely to be squad player for Sweden at the finals.
The 23-year-old never featured for Sweden during their successful qualifying campaign, but he has recently broken into the international set-up.
Granqvist was a regular for the Under 21 side and he has now won two caps for the senior side.
The tall defender has always been highly-regarded as one of the best players in Sweden after breaking through at Helsingborgs.
After three seasons at Helsingborgs, Granqvist made the move to England with Wigan snapping him initially on loan.
Despite making only one appearance during his loan spell Wigan signed him on permanent basis with the player penning a two-year deal at the JJB Stadium.
Granqvist started the 2007/08 season as a regular in the starting XI, but after the appointment of Steve Bruce he lost his place in the side.
He was allowed to leave on loan during the January transfer window and he returned to Helsingborgs until the end of the season.
Granqvist's height make him a hard opponent to beat in the air and he is a more than capable deputy for Sweden's first-choice centre halves.
