Serbia remain top of World Cup qualifying Group 7, while Lithuania have strengthened their hold on second spot.

Having defeated Lithuania in their last outing, Serbia were in a confident mood and it showed as they earned a 3-1 victory in Austria.

Serbia found themselves three goals to the good after only 24 minutes after Milos Krasic, Milan Jovanovic and Ivan Obradovic netted.

And Austria were unable to muster any substantial comeback, with only an 80th minute Marc Janko consolation to show for their efforts.

Lithuania recorded a 1-0 home victory over Faroe Islands as Tomas Danilevicius scored the only goal of the game.

Faroe Islands entered the game in a positive frame of mind after opening their account in the group on Saturday with a surprise draw with Austria.

However, Lithuania's visitors returned to losing ways as striker Danilevicius netted in the 22nd minute to earn the points.
