Slaven Bilic has praised Fabio Capello for turning around the fortunes of the England team.

Croatia beat England home and away as they qualified for Euro 2008 and the Three Lions missed out.

England's failure to make it through to Austria and Switzerland cost Steve McClaren his job and Capello took charge in December 2007.

The Italian has enjoyed a dream start to his reign with England winning their first four games in World Cup qualifying Group 6.

The highlight came in Zagreb last month when England claimed an emphatic 4-1 victory and Bilic believes Capello's role needs to be recognised.

"It has been the same team and the same players, more or less, for the last five years," Bilic told Sky Sports News.

"It is the same generation but you can see now they have a big confidence and it is definitely the work of Capello and also the results."

Croatia beat Andorra 4-0 in their latest qualifier on Wednesday but remain five points behind group leaders England.
