Martin Tyler has put off his summer holidays to head to Austria and Switzerland for Euro 2008 - and he'll be sharing his experiences right here on skysports.com.
While England's flops are spending the summer on beaches across the globe, Sky Sports' voice of football will be taking in the colour and excitement of the European Championships - and you can read what he's been up to in his exclusive Euro 2008 diary.
In his second report Martin sees something that he has never seen in thirty years as a commentator and is questioned by some suspicious security staff.
And don't forget to check back next week to get more of Martin's inside take on what's going on at Euro 2008.
A brilliant decision
After a slightly slow start to the tournament it has really come to life.
I always believed that it would happen after the first set of games had all been played, but in fact it was the Netherlands v Italy game on Monday and 'that' amazing first goal, which really kick started it.
I've spoken to so many people about Ruud Van Nistelrooy's goal and the interpretation of the offside law which led to it and it's taken us all by surprise.
I wasn't commentating on the game so like most people at home I was watching it on TV and my original thought was - this is one of the worst ever offside goals given. Van Nistelrooy clearly didn't think he had scored and I was at the Dutch camp today and their original reaction was; wow, how did we get away with that!
But then of course the explanation came out the next day and it describes one of the most brilliant decisions made in the history of running a line. For the assistant to be aware of that and to react to that, bearing in mind he was on the other side of the field is absolutely astonishing and awe-inspiring!
It's been a big talking point over here and across the world as well because I got a call from Richard Keys who is in Doha with Al Jazeera. He was phoning from the programme he is doing out there and I got into a studio discussion with Sam Allardyce about it, which was great.
I've been commentating for 30 years and I've never seen anything like that before. I'm just glad I wasn't working on the game! As much as I'd like to believe I would have been spot on I don't think I would have been.
I was, however, lucky enough to commentate on the Spain v Russia game and David Villa's superb hat-trick. In my preparation for that game I had read that Fernando Torres was a little concerned that Spain's slow and patient build up would mean his chances would be limited, but of course it was the complete opposite.
Spain agonised for quite a while over whether or not to play two strikers up front and in the end it really worked for them. And although Torres didn't score it was terrific to see Villa run to the bench to celebrate his hat-trick with him.
A tournament of firsts
The next game that I will be commentating on is the Netherlands v Italy. I've had quite a luxurious time out here so far but I've got a really busy schedule ahead and after that game I will be heading to Geneva for Turkey against the Czech Republic, which is an unbelievable situation because if they draw, the game will end in a penalty shootout.
Both teams are now level on points with identical goals for and against, so we could see the first ever penalty shootout in the group stages at a European Championships.
This is also my first tournament with my own laptop. I have previously borrowed one for another tournament, but I actually went out and bought my own especially for this.
I was also one of the last people to get a mobile phone, but gradually I'm moving into the 21st century! It's been great for the upper body strength and I've been giving my biceps a good work out as well!
Suspicious security
It has come in handy though as some of the organisation leaves something to be desired at times. Security is also very tight, something which I found out first hand before Spain's match against Russia.
I had left the arena to do an interview with Sky Sports News and left everything inside except for my mobile phone and a couple of pens.
After I finished I headed through the security check to get back in and they asked me why I had two pens! I explained it was because I was quite capable of losing one! Some of the journalists have about 22 pens... I have no idea how they got in.
