Thorpe banned for Spireites visit

Rochdale boss Keith Hill will be without suspended striker Lee Thorpe for the visit of Chesterfield to Spotland on Saturday.

Thorpe begins a three-match ban after being sent off for a two-footed tackle on Ian Sharps during last weekend's 2-2 draw at Rotherham.

Fellow frontman Jon Shaw has resumed training after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury but will undergo a late fitness test.

Hill will also check on rookie Will Buckley, who is also hoping to shake off a hamstring strain in time to face the Spireites.

Buckley put in a man-of-the-match display at the Don Valley Stadium last weekend, and scored his first goal in league football in the process.

Jordan Rhodes impressed on his debut on loan from Ipswich and scored Dale's opener against the Millers, so he is set to continue up front with Adam Le Fondre.
