White hopeful of starting berth

Aidan White hopes to retain his place in Leeds' starting line-up for the home Carling Cup clash with Hartlepool on Tuesday night.

The 16-year-old left-back made an impressive full debut in Saturday's win at Carlisle, but cramped up midway through the second half and was replaced by Jonny Howson.

Manager Gary McAllister must decide whether to retain teenager White in the continued absence of suspended Irishman Alan Sheehan but Ben Parker and Andy Hughes provide further options.

Otherwise McAllister has no new injury or suspension problems, but could be tempted to hand goalkeeper Casper Ankergren a start in place of current number one David Lucas.

Striker Robert Snodgrass, Howson, David Prutton and Andy Robinson, could all return to the first team if McAllister opts to rest several of his players.
