Wrexham dominated the opening exchanges and it took just seven minutes before Proctor gave them the lead from the first real chance of the game, heading in at the far post after Chris Llewellyn crossed from the right.
Proctor doubled Wrexham's lead after 22 minutes after neat interplay between Levi Mackin and Ryan Valentine on the half-way line.
Shrimps goalkeeper Joe Lewis left himself exposed when he rushed out and all Proctor had to do was turn and hit goal with a lobbed shot.
Wrexham went in at half-time two goals up but moments after the restart, the home side found their lead cut to one when Jon Newby made an instant impression after coming on as a substitute.
Winger Carl Baker found Newby just outside the box, the striker turning to find Wrexham's defence static as he swung the shot underneath goalkeeper Anthony Williams.
