It was a first half of few chances but the home side just edged it. MK Dons' Colin Cameron went close on 13 minutes but his effort was wide and offside in any case before Chris Llewellyn's shot was blocked at the other end.

Keith Andrews shot over from a short free-kick for the visitors but Wrexham could be well pleased with their work at the half-time whistle.

Some strange decisions by referee Clive Oliver galvanised the home side and they went ahead on 71 minutes.

Willy Gueret weakly punched away Steve Evans' header and club captain Neil Roberts was on hand to chip in from 25 yards.

This rattled the Dons and despite throwing on attacking substitutes they couldn't get a goal, while Roberts couldn't make it two at the death for Wrexham but they still got a much-needed win.
