Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has made it clear to Roma and Hamburg that Yossi Benayoun and Dirk Kuyt will not be leaving Anfield this summer.
Midfielder Benayoun has been linked with Roma, and the Italian club have been making loud noises that the Israeli will be joining them.
Kuyt had become a surprise target of German club Hamburg, with a possible £16million price tag.
But Benitez said: "Neither of them will be leaving."
It had been suggested that the Anfield boss would let both go to finance a deal for Gareth Barry.
But he held talks with both players on Thursday, and said: "It is true that Roma are interested in Yossi.
"I have talked to him and told him I want to keep him. He is a player with quality and has shown that during pre-season.
"I have no more news about Yossi - he will be staying with us. I also talked with Dirk Kuyt. I am really pleased with him and he will be staying with us."
Benitez seems no nearer having the capital to conclude the £18million move for Barry, after Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill gave the green light to the deal - if the terms are right for Villa - at the weekend.
It seems now that Benitez will look to sell Jermaine Pennant and Andriy Voronin to finance the move.

Leicester have turned down bids from three clubs for £5m-rated defender Joe Mattock, while West Ham, Fulham and Stoke want Walter Pandiani.

"Dont get me wrong Kuyt works his butt off for the team but the best players dont have to work their butts off to make them look good. Benayoun to me just seems like a Luis Garcia except he doesnt score in big matches like he did :(. We should be selling and buy something thats just going to give us that little something."

"What? Possible 16 milion pounds turned down for Kuyt? What is Rafa thinking?! I think it would've been better for Kuyt to be playing in Germany, and I would've offloaded him for much less. Its obvious favouritism and it may spoil Rafa's career here..!"

"Kuyt played right wing for he cloggies briefly this summer, an was head & shoulders the best player on the pitch. You can tell he's worked his nutz off to make that position his because he knows he won't get many options upfront anymore. An if you'd asked me half way through last season i'd have said he's a useless waste of space. But he really has turned my head the end of the season an through the summer. I read someone on here says Pennant is better??? have you ever seen Penant play? or should i say try to. The mans useless, he can't go round a man!! he always cuts inside an loses the ball, to the point that if you watch defenders against him now, they always show him the inside knowing he'll take it and get 1 CB & 1 Holding mid to smother him. He's so predictable and can't cross a ball to save his life. YNWA"
