Jermaine Penannt has begged Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez not to sell him as he wants to fight for a place in the team he supported as a boy.
The winger's future at Anfield looks uncertain after not being involved in the Reds' opening two Premier League games.
Blackburn have been strongly linked with a move for the former Birmingham star, but Pennant hopes to remain at Anfield.
"I want to stay at Liverpool," Pennant told The People.
"I have been given a fantastic opportunity to play for the team I supported as a kid and all I want to do is work hard and fight for my place in the team."
Meanwhile, Robbie Keane believes Liverpool have shown a winning mentality by getting results despite not performing to their maximum.
The Reds left to late to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 on Saturday on Keane's home debut as they made it two wins out of two.
Keane accepts Liverpool are not firing on all cylinders, but he insists it is all about winning as they look to mount a serious bid for the title.
"Football is about winning, it doesn't matter how well you play so long as you come off the pitch having picked up the points," Keane told the club's official website.
"When you don't play as well as you know you can but you are still getting results then that is a sign of a good team. When we do start playing well we're confident we'll keep getting the points on the board to make sure we are in the mix at the top of the table."
Keane added: "It was nice to play my first competitive game at Anfield but at the end of the day the most important thing was to win," he said.
"It doesn't matter whether it's my first game here or not, it's about winning and I've settled in well now so the match was all about getting three points on the board and we managed to do that."

"I agree... hes had his chances. Its not like hes just signed for us. Sell him to Blackburn and get some money back for him. Otherwise hes just going to rot away in the reserves. As for this Riera speculation, lets hope its not true. "

"Seems like both Kuyt and Pennant don't fill the bill to be our right winger, I have to take the suggestion of playing Stevie on the right again with Alonso and Mash on the central midfield. Babel was not fully fit for Mid'boro game but he has proved himself last term. He's still the best option we have on the left. The match against Boro again shows us that we need wide player to complete the puzzle. That's what RB need to look into it now. However, I would still prefer Pennant to work his way back to the team than Kuyt who is just not fit to be in our shirt....YNWA"

"kuyt is not a winger, he never was. he is just running around like crazy, a confused hen. it is so frustrating watching him at the right wing. he can't score goals and he can't cross at all. get rid of him and approach shaun-wright or aron lennon. "

"Neither Kuyt nor Pennant is a suitable winger in a 4-4-2. Kuyt will do in the 4-2-3-1 formation we run but Pennant is the king of inconsistency and wasted chances. Rafa has given him his chances and he blew them. It's time for him to move on. We need a real wide player for the right. Babel can cover the left for now but a winger who can play either side would be best. Although Kuyt can't cross very well he is a better option over Pennant since his performances are more consistent. I'd dare say that Voronin's goal threat is more of an asset than Pennant's service to the strikers. Both are poor and not the standard we need at LFC. Walk on..."

"Totally liverpoolovered. I can't can't believe Rafa's insistence on playing Dirk Kuyt at all! The guy can't defend (he's a striker) he doesn't know how to dribble and he can't cross to save his own life.
Yes he is full of running and industry and hard work blah blah blah but titles are not won with people like KUYT. There was a reason why he was dropped from the holland squad despite playing regularly."

"Bloody Rafa must be getting his arse polished by Kuyt , the headless chicken. Don't understand how you are going to win games without much width. On the left, Dossena and Aurelio are not out and out wingers ( though they are good left sided defenders ) , and on the right ,even worse. Pennant is the next best thing now , unless you spend a little less money on getting Lennon than you were to get Keane . I am sure he would come if Pool approaches him. We are not getting any decent crosses from the right with that stupid Kuyt who is afraid totake on defenders. Arbeloa is not a good overlapping defender as well. On current situation, the best option is to use Agger and Skrtel as central defenders and Jamie as right back , as he is proven there. If Pennant is not used, then the most suitable right winger is Stevie . If Pool is serious on winning the long awaited title, you have to start getting 2 to 3 English national players . Look at Chelsea and Man U. All successful title winners have at least 3 to 4 national players to form the core of a highly motivated league champion . Rafa has this season to prove me wrong , otherwise I think he is going to be kissing Parry's ass goodbye . YNWA"

"Pennant better than Kuyt? are you mad, he can't take a man on, he cant hold the ball up, he cant link up an he CAN NOT PASS! or cross for that matter. Pennant & Voronin are 2 of the luckiest men alive to wear a liverpool shirt. A swap for Morton Gamst, That way we'd atleast have some balance with a lefty. Granted he's not the greatest left winger but given the situation with funds and deadwood (Pennant). I'd bite their hand off."
