Cech fears Terry may join City

Petr Cech is unsure whether John Terry will still be a Chelsea player next season and fears the defender is tempted to join Manchester City.

Free-spending City are determined to create a side capable of challenging for major honours and have earmarked Blues captain Terry as a player who could lead them to silverware.

Chelsea have spurned two bids already for their defensive talisman, with City thought to be readying a third offer which could be worth as much as £40million.

Terry's silence to date on the matter has only fuelled the speculation further and Cech admits he would not be hugely surprised if the defender felt the time was right for a fresh challenge.

Although the Czech goalkeeper believes Terry's heart still lies with Chelsea he is already contemplating life at Stamford Bridge without one of its favourite sons.

"Sometime people want to have a new challenge," he told Sky Sports News.

"They want to go on to different adventures, you never know.

"It comes from the personality. It has also been the case JT has always wanted to stay at Chelsea - it's in his heart."

Carlo Ancelotti is due to face the press at 10am on Monday morning where he is expected to field calls on Terry's future.

"Why do people single out Chelsea for big spending? Ther s one big club of Galactsickos in Spain who've been historically big spending? Probably ManC are following the route."

"Terry's on what 120,000euro a week??? if he leaves he is only leaving for money because he cant believe city are ready to surpass Chelsea (if ever!)...this is getting ridiculous. does anyone play for football reasons anymore?? is it just footballers that are a greedy bunch or in the same circumstance would most of us do the same. All this rubbish about footballers having short careers blah blah blah might hold for players on much lower wages who will move to a club for financial reasons but someone on 120,000 a week will be more than financially secure for life. He makes more in three months than i probably will in my lifetime. Are they living in an alternative universe? if i had his wages i'd have stopped worrying about money along time ago and concentrated completely on having the best football career possible. Moving from Chelsea to man City at this stage is not to advance his football career. The greed in the game sickens me and must sicken those of us that would love to make in two years what alot of them make in a week!"

"Chelsea and Man City have created a situation of feeding the egos of greedy players if Terry leaves Chelsea a team that challenges for every trophy for Man City the only motin=vation is money. It's not the same as joe average changing jobs to a higher paid job there is too much greed in football i wish Man City all the best if they want to be taken seriously they should not just throww money at every player I can see another Madrid in the making why do they still have Dunne sort out the defence first."

"i can understand why city want him, i wouldnt say hes the best defebder in the world but as a leader of men terry's inspirational, but the whole 40mil would of usally made my head turn but after madrid's signing this pale's in comparison"

"unbelieveable.... thats all i'll say. but then again. i'd jump at the chance to make 300kweek. dunno if i'd still do that if i where payed 150kweek though. winning titles is overrated. you can buy a forged CL cup for only like a thousand bucks! :P"

""Says he is looking forward to work with the nw manager", thats the fifth manager Terry has given that comment on so its getting pretty thin, hium having fired big Phil and all.

How does it feel? Was a popular song from Manhester right? Now that richer clubs are turning your player heads....must feel weird not to be the richest kid any more"

benny23kingfish (Manchester United fan)

"if he surely leaves chelsea for the useless man city..then bye to his international career as well...in city there is no cavahlio r Alex to cover ur weekness..same like vidic and Rio..they cover each other"
