City warned off Osasuna duo

Spanish outfit Osasuna have warned big-spending Manchester City off moves for defensive pair Cesar Azpilicueta and Nacho Monreal.

Reports in Spain have suggested City are lining up a double swoop for the Osasuna duo after Mark Hughes was spotted watching the pair in action against Barcelona at the weekend.

Hughes is thought to be keen to bolster his defensive options with new full-backs believed to be his top priority.

Right-back Azpilicueta is one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe with the likes of Arsenal, Valencia, Juventus, Fiorentina and Palermo all credited with an interest in the 20-year-old.

Monreal is also attracting interest from a host of sides and he has broken into the Spain squad this season.

Osasuna are keen to keep the pair and club president Patxi Izco insists they would only consider selling the duo if someone meets their buy-out clauses.

"There is nothing to discuss or negotiate," Izco told Diario de Noticias de Navarra.

"We rely on both players and they can leave the club in January only if a club will pay their clauses."

Azpilicueta is understood have a release clause of 15m euros (£13.5m) while in the case of Monreal it is of 12m euros (£10.8m).

"Neal (Exiled in Herts) (Manchester City fan),this is football forum eh.funny how a city fan defended his mate.at least i posted 4 footballer names(and a dog) and i dont saw anything related to football in topman32 comment.so how about you advised them to stop their stealing habit(and begging habit of course)and you go exiled in antartica(becouse you hate arab oil money i presume).how sudden money throw at a club can changed their fan into immoral disturbing yob(topman32).

burmesebob, yeah mate, agree with you.but definitely united can afford one of them(both if fergie insist).and Pompey have got more chance of getting relegated than signing Villa and Silva.and TOPMAN32,you can only dreaming of that!!FACT"

Neal (Exiled in Herts) (Manchester City fan)

"Nope, not pocket money, all obsene money no matter who spends it. Also how ironic that the best dig a red (bobby) has is that Utd are "linked" with more expensive players and makes "beg like a dog" comments - bobby, you should keep your personal habits to yourself, this is a football forum."
