Kolo Toure says it is vital Manchester City regain the winning mentality if they are to be considered genuine top-four contenders.
Despite a fourth successive draw - at Birmingham - Mark Hughes' side moved into the fourth spot.
Club skipper Toure says they need to kick-on, sooner rather than later, starting on Saturday in the home game against Burnley.
He told the club's website: "We need to impose ourselves as we have some gifted players in this dressing room.
"We can enjoy our football by passing it and controlling games. That's what we need to achieve now. The team needs time but as time goes by we need to improve.
"City is not the team it was before, a lot of things have changed and our mentality has to change as well.
"We cannot be happy with a draw or drawing four games in a row. Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool would never be happy with that, which is why they have been at the top, so neither can we."
Toure is hopeful he can face Burnley after being sidelined with a heel problem.
He said: "The injury is getting better, I feel that I will be fit enough for the game on Saturday.
"I'm always disappointed when I'm injured and I can't help out my team mates, but we have a strong squad here.
"You need that if you want to at the top of this league, because there are some really tough teams out there."

Posted Today @ 08:39 I bet the less "luny" mancity fans are real proud of having you supporting their team. If Arsenal are not a 'big' Club .. then your team will never be big by your own standards.
You claim history doesnt count And us having a massive fanbased is also irrelivant. Just like our long history and acheivements. Then you name Liverpool as a bigger team ?? Based on what recent acheivements?? Have they won the PremierLeague?? I guess making Logical statements is beyond you.
I do not fear the manchester-sugardaddy-project I applaud it.. (last year maybe i'd have feared it) during my time as an Arsenalfan manu have been our fiersest enemy .. and then Chelsea threw themselves in the mix .. But having spent well over a decade hating Manu and their fans I was absolutely thrilled when you lot got a sugardad.. Then it turned out that most of you were just as C**ty as the chelski fans when given money. Class can not be bought !! "

"It is important for the City faithful to concentrate on supporting the team instead of arguing with jealous morons desperate to hang on to what they have. Arsenal, Chelsea and the rags look good for one more season but the cartel is breaking up. We have to make the COMS a noise bowl. Something it has not been recently. MH has to start playing games to win instead of picking a team NOT TO LOSE. Two holding midfielders against Fulham at home and Wigan Birmingham, no surprise we drew. That was the correct call at Villa but is not the same everywhere. Ireland has attacking ideas and a quick brain, Johnson could be awesome."

"Nice couple of bites. There is still only 2 big teams in the prem and one is having a bad time of it at the moment. As for history it's all in the past you still haven't won the league for a few seasons, as for finnishing runners up or in semifinals or fourth in the prem, you might as well finish 8th or 9th. Oh and by the way, you don't have to use text style on the your replies, it's free and you can use up to 1900 characters as stated below. "

""se69" U are really an idiot how can u say arsenal are not a big team? we are dissapointed in our team every year weve been fourth in the league and if im not wrong it is your biggest ambition this year. Aston Villa beat big teams that does not mean they are there yet. Arsenal have been in 2 semis one final in the CL last few years. Im not even sure Man city fans beleive that there is a tournament called Champions League u probably think is a myth. What "lettraggad" said is not completely right bcus I doubt that anyone can motivate this mercenaries. As for Toure I feel sorry for bcus I believe he really wants to win something while Adebayor, Barry and Tevez already have their medals at the bank. "

"se69 (Manchester City fan) 'Having a big ground doesn't make you have a big team' well said. What does is trophies/history and tradition. something which Arsenal have mate. "

"You United fans just cannot resist posting on City articles can you? It's a bit sad guys and getting a bit boring, so shut it already yeah? As for lettraggad, not entirely unfair comments, you could well be proven right. "
