Premier League |
TEAMtalk's hacks were enjoying another session in the boozer when the conversation moved to Premier League players we hate - and here they are.
Every football fan has got players they love and players they hate, and the lads here at TEAMtalk are no different. Some of the hatred is for good reason and some is completely irrational but that doesn't stop us screaming at the TV screen every Saturday afternoon.
Now it may well be a very silly idea, but we thought we'd let our loyal readers know which players we love to hate so you can defend them, or join us in lambasting them.
We want to hear all your thoughts so don't forget to use our story comment facility and get the debate going on the Your Say pages too.
Mark Holmes, Stoke City fan
Craig Gordon (GK) - An over-rated, over-priced Scottish goalkeeper that has got a very high opinion of himself.
Gary Neville (RB) - Stupid tache, stupid floppy hair and stupid voice. Celebrates like an idiot and has far too much to say.
Ashley Cole (LB) - He's a disloyal money grabber, but it's mainly the Cheryl thing for me!
John Terry (CB) - A bit controversial but I can't stand the chest thumper - he's vastly over-rated and spends most of his time fouling and moaning to referees.
Jamie Carragher (CB) - Will someone please shut him up because I'm absolutely sick of him telling me 'this is Liverpool's year'. Turned his back on England too.
Emmanuel Eboue (RM) - Wenger plays him on the wing so I will too. He's a useless, thick whinger that does stupid dancing when he scores and dives like a swan. All-round prat.
El-Hadji Diouf (LM) - Does all the above and spits like a camel too. Also needs a trip to Specsavers.
Steven Gerrard (CM) - Divers are bad enough but claiming you don't do it, having a go at everyone that does and then falling to ground like a star fish every weekend makes you stick out.
Michael Ballack (CM) - I can't quite put my finger on why, but he's just very easy to hate. He's the only player I've ever seen chase a referee for 50 yards too!
Emmanuel Adebayor (CF) - What's to like? The big girl stopped playing for Arsenal last season when he'd decided he wanted out. Threw all the fans' support back at them.
Robin van Persie (CF) - He acts like a little girl when anyone goes near him but doesn't mind sticking a load of studs into someone himself.
James Marshment, Leeds United fan
David James (GK) - Spends too much time talking about art, nature and anything other than the game he is paid so well to do.
Jamie Carragher (RB) - Moaned that he was selected out of position for England. As a result, I'm picking him here as my Hated XI's right-back.
Rio Ferdinand (CB) - As a Leeds fan, his inclusion is obvious. Rio- you're 'mirked'!
Joleon Lescott: (CB) - Sold out for City's money.
Lucas Neill (LB) - Strikes me as money-orientated and is far-too-opinionated. That said, I'd have chosen Julian Dicks if I could have gone back in time!
David Bentley (CM) - A big-time Charlie and thinks he's better than he is.
Barry Ferguson (CM) - Rubbish when he played for Blackburn and rubbish again for Birmingham. 'Boozegate' and the subsequent two-finger gesture was as much childish as it was unfunny.
Marouane Fellaini (CM) - Is there a more overrated player in the Prem? Big, cumbersome and picks up more bookings than a John and Edward impersonator.
Emmanuel Adebayor (CF) - Goaded Arsenal fans unnecessarily and is definitely motivated by his wallet. That said, he is one of the best strikers around.
David Nugent (CF) - Very, very average and wasn't even that good in the Championship. The worst player to win an England cap since Michael Ricketts!
Dimitar Berbatov (CF) - Extremely gifted, but my god is he lazy! If he had 5% the work-rate of Ian Rush, he'd already be one of the greatest ever.
Matthew Briggs, Bradford City fan
David James (GK) - Tough choice but too many bad hair days.
Tony Hibbert (RB) - Stealing a living in the top flight.
Pascal Chimbonda (LB) - About as loyal as an alley cat.
Lucas Neill (CB) - Loves to chase the lira and bang average defender.
Jamie Carragher (CB) - Moaning defender whose comments about England will not be forgotten.
Barry Ferguson (CM) - Over-rated midfielder who shamed himself playing for his country.
Michael Essien (CM) Undoubtedly a quality player, but gets away with nasty tackle after nasty tackle
Stephen Hunt (LM) - Unsavoury character who left a lasting impression on Petr Cech.
David Bentley (RM) - Talented, but not as talented as he would make you believe.
El-Hadji Diouf (CF) - Numerous offences including spitting accusations, but was recently caught talking about himself in the third person.
Andrew Johnson (CF) - A striker made of balsa wood.
Sam Nightingale, Liverpool fan
David James (GK) - Calamity James couldn't catch a cold and was famously one of Liverpool's Spice Boys, which is reason enough to include him!
Gary Neville (RB) - He's always got something to say. Just get on with the game!
Joleon Lescott (CB) - David Moyes gave Lescott his big chance in the Premier League and the defender repaid him by forcing a move to Manchester City.
Rio Ferdinand (CB) - The Manchester United defender needs to concentrate on his football and not his own version of Punk'd!
Lucas Neill (LB) - Always follows the money. Turned down a move from Blackburn to Liverpool and joined West Ham because they offered a better deal. Left the Hammers after failing to agree a new contract and then finally signed for Everton...on a one-year deal!
Lee Bowyer (CM) - All I will say is he hasn't got the best disciplinary record.
Javier Mascherano (CM) - Had his head turned by Barcelona in the summer and in my view should have pledged his loyalty to the Reds, especially after Rafa Benitez helped restore his reputation following a disastrous spell at West Ham.
El-Hadji Diouf (RM) - The Blackburn winger has a habit of antagonising opposition fans.
Craig Bellamy (LM) - A great player but could pick a fight with himself in a telephone box. Nuff said!
Didier Drogba (CF) - On fire at the moment but too often in the past he has gone down like a sack of spuds and his rant last season after the Blues' Champions League exit to Barcelona was a step too far.
Emmanuel Adebayor (CF) - Deserves inclusion for his inflammatory goal celebration when scoring for City against former club Arsenal earlier this season, which nearly caused a riot.

"Thats it! Eastmond better than Diaby? I've had it with this forum! You guys are the worst fans ever! You arsenal fans always insist on running players out of the club. Two seasons ago, it was senderos, last season, adebayor and eboue and now, we're on diaby and bendtner! "

"Papco - one mistake ...You wrote Lennon but I'm pretty sure fro that description you meant Bentley. One thing Aaron isn't is arrogant, unlike that poncey "I'm the greatest (no you're not) ex-gooner who is his back-up."
litmanen37 (Liverpool fan)

CF - Drogba - A 16 stone bruiser who falls like the first leaves of autumn.
