Guus Hiddink insists it is too early to discuss his future in football after Russia's failure to reach the World Cup finals.
Hiddink was giving nothing away following Slovenia's victory over his Russia side, even though the former Chelsea coach is bound to be linked with a return to the Premier League in the coming weeks and months.
The Dutchman, whose existing contract expires in summer 2010 following the finals, had announced towards the end of Russia's qualifying campaign that any questions about his future would be dealt with at a later stage.
But with Russia's World Cup campaign now at a premature end thanks to Wednesday's 1-0 defeat in Maribor, those questions have been hastily brought forward, although Hiddink, for now, is remaining tight-lipped.
He said: "I have an existing contract until the end of the World Cup finals in July 2010.
"The question [of whether I will continue to Euro 2012] will require some time for thought.
"Before the matches with Germany and Slovenia, the Russian Football Association (RFS) expressed their desire to continue working together.
"But we'll talk about the future at a later stage."
Hiddink took over as coach in 2006 and guided Russia through a difficult qualifying group involving England and Croatia to an historic semi-final place at the 2008 European Championship.
But having enjoyed varying degrees of success at World Cup finals with Holland, Australia and South Korea, failure to qualify on this occasion with Russia will prove an unwelcome blot an otherwise illustrious record for the Dutchman, who turned 63 earlier this month.

"If Rafa was to walk or be sacked, this is who I would love to take over. Hiddink has a proven track record of winning and getting the best out of players. Exactly what Liverpool need as there is less and less money to spend on players. "

"With his strong relationship with Roman Abramovich, I really can't see Guus Hiddink managing another Premier League Club. The fact that he is available will bring enormous pressure on Ancelotti because he'll know that he has to deliver now because there is a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings. One defeat and you will hear all sorts of rumours that Hiddink will take over at Chelsea. For the time being, I hope he continues to work as an external director at Chelsea. His input will be valuable for us."
