Jovanovic a £3.4million snip - Agent

Birmingham will be getting a "fantastic deal" if they sign Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic for £3.4million, claims agent Barry McIntosh.

The Serbian striker will join Blues for 3.75million euros as long as they deal with McIntosh rather than directly with the Belgian club, the agent claims.

McIntosh insists he has an "exclusive" mandate from Liege to finalise a move for Jovanovic and that Blues face legal ramifications if they try to seal any deal directly with the club.

McIntosh is already involved in a dispute with City over the signing of Santos Laguna striker Christian Benitez after initially being given the go-ahead to thrash out the deal to bring in the Ecuador international.

McIntosh told the Birmingham Mail "They (Birmingham) can go and speak direct to the club (Liege) if they want but I have the exclusive mandate to get specific terms for the player, and that's come from their sporting director.

"That could have more [legal] ramifications if they did do that.

"I have managed to get Birmingham a fantastic deal for a player who absolutely destroyed Everton not too long ago in Europe.

"At the time there was talk of £10million offers, but Standard Liege didn't want to sell.

"Now he is coming to the end of his contract in June, and they have realised he doesn't want to re-sign, so they are looking to get the maximum price in January."

Jovanovic has scored 76 goals in 129 appearances for Liege and McIntosh added: "Jovanovic is a great talent. He can play coming in off the left or right, even though he is essentially left-footed, or straight up front.

"He has a presence, his goals record speaks for itself, and there are plenty of clubs out there who want him."

McIntosh's main gripe over the Benitez transfer is with the previous Birmingham board and not the current regime headed by Carson Yeung.

But he insisted: "They (the current board) didn't start the fire but they still intend to benefit from the performances of the player.

"They inherited the situation, they have to deal with it."

"to the Yiddo fan he thinks he is too good for Blues, where would you suggest he goes?? Oh maybe you think you need a 5th striker perhaps??"

"Rafa BUY him!!"

kevikeez (Newcastle United fan)

"Why cant Agents be banned from representing players ? im sure FIFA can come up with a ruling. They own this Sport so they should be doing what is best for the Players and Clubs. It`s all about money these days when Agents are involved. Can someone explain if there are any legal implications where Fifa cant ban them ??"

"It seems to me that he is trying a little to hard there! If his client is that good i dont really think he would need to say this crap!

Fair play tho, we are all here to make a living!"

"I would love him and Krasic at Liverpool. With those two supporting Gerard and Torres we would be close to perfection"

sofaking (Tottenham Hotspur fan)

"if he's that good surely he can do better than Birmingham City?"

MUFC_4_LYF (Manchester United fan)

"Personally I think £3.4m is a bargain for Jovanovic; I went to the Serbia vs Rep. Korea match and he is a quality player. In my opinion his talent will be wasted at Birmingham but the experience will do him good and give him a platform to better things, unless he fails to make the grade like so many promising foreign youngsters ie Kleberson"

"everyone...its time we all started feeling sorry for the agents...i mean read the article...it brings a tear to my eye"

"Typical agenttalk... but Jovanic is quality though! He would be a great signing for most clubs!"
