The prolific Portugal star has enjoyed another outstanding season and is nominated for both players' player and Young Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers' Association.

Arsenal pair Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres are also in the reckoning for the main award, as is Torres' team-mate Steven Gerrard and Portsmouth goalkeeper David James.

Ronaldo, Torres and Fabregas are joined in the running for the Young Player of the Year award by Aston Villa pair Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young plus Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

"it's a no-brainer who wins"

" I would like to see David James there but for talent and ability it has to be Ronaldo."

"mel0107, i hope you understand that this topic is about the best player of the year. Apparently, as much as we are eating the humble pies, of the 10 Liv fans that have posted, 9 agreed that Ronaldo should win. So i dont see how your post actually serves as a constructive comment on this post. Luckily not all man u fans are as ignorant as you are. Arrogance maybe."
